Beginning August 15, 2018, MSU's international travelers will be covered by a new international medical and travel assistance plan provided through International SOS

As of August 15, all MSU-sponsored international travel by faculty, staff, and students--including education abroad participants--will be covered by International SOS's comprehensive international health insurance. Travelers will also be eligible to receive medical and security assistance from International SOS, including pre-travel review for proposed locations and itineraries.

What you need to know:
  • Travelers who are abroad during or after the transition from our current provider GeoBlue will see no disruption in their insurance coverage.
  • For emergency assistance while abroad, travelers should use the local emergency number to contact local emergency services.
  • For assistance with health and safety issues occurring while outside of the United States, travelers may contact the 24/7 International SOS Scholastic Assistance Line: +1-215-942-8478. International SOS will immediately notify the Office of International Health and Safety of any issues requiring the coordination of MSU support.
  • The MSU 24/7 International Emergency Assistance Tel: +1-517-353-3784 routed through the MSU Police Department remains available and should be called to report a crime abroad.
  • Download the International SOS app or visit the International SOS web-portal to review information about your destination, receive travel alerts and contact ISOS for assistance.
  • Education Abroad program directors should attend a Critical Incident Management Seminar during the 2018-2019 academic year to learn more.

If you have any questions about this transition, you can contact the Office of International Health and Safety at oihs(at)msu.edu or 1-517-884-2174.
